Elderly mother faces eviction as drug accused skips bail, Melbourne court hears

The elderly mother of a man accused of conspiring to import methamphetamine ingredients from the US could lose her home after he absconded, a Melbourne court has heard.

Jim Dimitrakis Soukoulis, 54, has not been seen by the authorities since November last year.

In 2017, Mr Soukoulis and two alleged accomplices were charged over an international drug trafficking ring, after 255 kilograms of ingredients used to make methamphetamine were discovered in the town of Windsor, outside of Santa Rosa in California.

US and Australian investigators allege the men were going to bring the chemicals into Australia in a light aircraft, which had been purchased in the US and modified to hide the contraband.

Mr Soukoulis and co-accused Peter Romeo Caluzzi and Hugh John Gorman face charges of conspiring to import drugs.
